Jack McKinney partners with people to address issues limiting their life and relationships while exploring healthy alternatives for their present and future. As a pastoral counselor, he offers therapy that helps all clients find their true selves and is open to spiritual questions for clients who want to explore them. As a consultant, Jack’s 18 years as a pastor give him enormous respect for the commitment shown by ministers and the congregations they serve. Clergy sometimes need skills not taught in seminary, practical tips on solving problems, or just an understanding listener. In his experience, congregations also benefit from an outside perspective, particularly when large decisions, conflict, or staff development become priorities.
Jack specializes in spiritual and religious questions, sexual orientation and gender identity, depression, trauma, PTSD, relationship struggles, pre-marital counseling, couples counseling, loss and grief, anxiety and stress, and discerning new directions in life.
From Jack: In the movie The Shawshank Redemption, the recently released convict, Red, is struggling to embrace his freedom when he discovers a letter from his old friend, Andy. The letter includes the line: “If you have come this far, maybe you’re willing to come a little further.” If you have come to this site looking for a counselor to support you as you wrestle with a particular problem, or to help you make sense out of life, I admire your willingness to make a start. Finding the right person to partner with you in the counseling process is a critical decision. And if you have come this far, maybe you’re willing to come a little further.
